Mavros was born as Ilia von Vestra to a quaint family of moon elves. Being a moon elf, he lived in cave systems, hidden deep below the surface, and life there was spent in dutiful servitude to their Goddess, Lilia. However, Mavros’s mother dreamed of more in her life; she envied the luxurious ways of the surface-dwellers and wished to emulate their lifestyle. Though, she had one problem: moon elves did not coincide with the surface dwellers’ society, and therefore, she had none of their currency, nor any way to get it.

After Mavros’s father died when he was a toddler, she devised a plan: she had been sneaking out - speaking with humans, elves, and whatnot - and learned some nobles would pay a handsome “dowry” for the hand of a moon elven bride. She started grooming Mavros to be the perfect wife: illiterate in the surface-dweller’s tongue (so he could never talk back), isolated from everyone (so he would serve his spouse wholly), and lashed when he so much as walked the wrong way (so he would be obedient).

The day Mavros was of age, his mother finalized the deal and sent him off to be wed. He had planned to marry his spouse, gut them, and run, but his plans were ruined when a passing group of vampires heard the commotion, and decided a moon elf was too enticing to pass up. Their blood was said to be divine - the flavor of the stars themselves - and Mavros would then be handed over to the Duke of Stormhaven, to be used as his personal cattle. The Duke became obsessed with Mavros, and used him as far more than just “cattle.”

One fateful night, The Duke turned Mavros into his spawn, intent on having Mavros be his forever. Though, the man was overzealous, and failed to account for the servants that would enter his room and dispose of the “corpse.” They took Mavros’s body and dumped it in The Pit, where Mavros would awake - dazed and confused - and ran until his legs refused to move any longer. When The Duke arrived at The Pit, he added the bodies of the servants to it.

It took Mavros a year after that to get back on his feet; stealing, sneaking, hiding. He decided he wouldn’t sit back and let himself be controlled any longer. He chose a new name, hid his face, and spent sleepless nights training himself how to fight. With a new prowess in his hands, he hunted his first vampire, and after that, another. The satisfaction was immeasurable and his new blood lust, insatiable. He became known as “The Hunter,” among vampires and a serial killer among mortals.

When word got back to The Duke, a knowing glint passed through his eye. He put a bounty on The Hunter’s head: His alive return, in exchange for wealth and access to Stormhaven Clan.
